MyBasu
Privacy policy
Last updated 6 October 2026
In short: MyBasu has no accounts, no ads and no analytics, and does not track you. Your location and your saved places stay on your phone. To show bus times, the app sends bus stop numbers to our server, and nothing that identifies you.
MyBasu is made by an independent developer in Singapore ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the MyBasu apps for iPhone and Android, and their widgets, do with information.
What stays on your phone
- Your location. MyBasu uses it to find the bus stops near you and to plan journeys. The app works this out on your phone and never sends your location to us or anyone else.
- Your saved places and settings: Home and Work, favourite stops, pinned buses, the names you give stops, arrival alerts and your theme. They are kept on your phone and shared only with MyBasu's own widget on the same phone.
- Arrival alerts are scheduled on your phone. We don't run a notification server.
What leaves your phone, and why
Bus arrival times
To show live arrival times, the app and its widget ask our server (api.mybasu.com) for the bus stops on screen. Each request contains bus stop numbers only. Our server gets the times from the Land Transport Authority's DataMall service and passes them back.
Like any website, our server can see the internet (IP) address a request comes from, because that is how the answer finds its way back. MyBasu does not store IP addresses. Our server runs on Cloudflare, which processes them to deliver requests and to protect the service from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. Our server keeps short technical logs of errors (for example, "LTA did not answer for stop 83139"), which contain no IP addresses and are deleted after a few days.
Searching for a place
When you type a postal code, road or place (in "Where to?" or when setting Home or Work), the text you type goes through our server to OneMap, the Singapore Land Authority's map service, to find matching addresses. OneMap sees our server, not your phone. See OneMap's privacy statement.
Our server never logs what you search for. To answer common searches quickly, it keeps recent search results for up to a day. These copies are not linked to you or your phone.
The map
When you open the map, the images for the area on screen are downloaded from OneMap. Because the map usually starts where you are, those downloads show OneMap roughly which area you are looking at.
Directions
If you tap Directions, MyBasu opens Apple Maps or Google Maps with the bus stop as the destination. What happens there is covered by Apple's or Google's privacy policy.
Crash reports
MyBasu contains no crash-reporting or analytics tools. If you have agreed in your phone's settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may send us anonymous crash reports.
What we don't do
- We don't ask you to sign up or log in.
- We don't show ads, sell data or share it with advertisers.
- We don't track you across apps or websites.
Your choices
- You can turn off location access for MyBasu in your phone's settings at any time. You can still search for stops by name or number.
- Deleting the app deletes everything it saved on your phone.
Children
MyBasu is suitable for all ages and does not collect personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
